Emma is a British born artist whose visual narratives and free diving expeditions explore the human experience of the ocean and the importance of highlighting failing ecosystems and the need for change. She holds a BSc from Durham University, a diploma in Naturopathy, photography accreditation, and mentorship in the study of fine art and sculpture.
From a very young age, Emma has had a strong affinity for animals and the sea and as an adult has cultivated this interest and focus through direct involvement in rescue and rehabilitation of marine life and educational outreach. She is increasingly concerned about the growing number of endangered species and the human impact on marine life. By creating meaning and purpose through her artwork, she is able to channel her passion for painting ocean wildlife while opening the conversation about the power of conscious consumers and positive environmental impact.
She is currently working on a series of paintings focusing on the ocean and its ecosystem. Her works speak to the interconnecting natural world, using vivid colors to command the viewer’s attention. The subjects of the painting are highlighted with suggestions of realism while the broken abstract shards, that are featured in the whole collection, represent uncertainty and a breakdown of equilibrium.
Emma believes that one of humankind’s greatest mistakes is thinking that this is not our problem and that someone else will save us. It is each and every one of our responsibility to act in whatever way we can to make a difference, no matter how small.
Emma’s work can be seen in collections in Australia, Dubai, England and the United States.
