The 'artbeat' mentorship program is a 12-month opportunity for one emerging artist to gain:

One-on-one mentoring with a professional artist
Career coaching on branding, gallery representation & contracts
Support from a Positive Psychology Coach to build resilience
12 months of gallery representation at Yallingup Galleries
Lifelong alumni support to guide your journey
A special Emerging Artists Showcase – shortlisted artists will exhibit at Yallingup Galleries, giving them professional exposure

Exclusive representation in Yallingup Galleries for one year, curated amongst leading Western Australian artists. The opportunity to showcase artworks in the gallery and across its digital platforms offers valuable exposure, potential sales and career-boosting recognition


How It Works

  1. Submit Your Artwork
    • Send an image of your artwork to Yallingup Galleries.
    • Open to all Western Australian artists aged 17-21.
    • Submission deadline: 30th April 2025
  1. Finalists Selected
    1. Chosen artists will have their work displayed in a special 'artbeat' exhibition at Yallingup Galleries.
    2. Notification will go out to applicants on 17th May 2025 if they have been successful.  
  1. Prize Winners announced at the exhibition
    • Grand Prize: Acceptance into the exclusive 'artbeat' mentorship program, which provides professional development, industry guidance, and career-building opportunities.
    • Judges’ Choice Award: A one-night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, Busselton with breakfast + an opportunity to display an artwork at the Hilton Garden Inn, Busselton.
    • 2nd Prize: $1,000 cash.
    • 3rd Prize: $500 cash.

The 'artbeat' mentorship is an immersive program designed to equip young artists with the skills, knowledge, and connections to build a successful career. Participants receive personalised guidance from experienced artists and industry professionals, providing invaluable insight into the art world.

Eligibility & Application

  1. Who can apply to artbeat?
    We welcome young artists from all backgrounds, whether you're self-taught, in school, homeschooled, or studying art at university. As long as you're passionate about your creative process, we encourage you to apply.
  2. I’m 21 now but will turn 22 before the exhibition. Am I still eligible?
    Yes! As long as you are 21 years old on or before April 30, 2025, you are eligible to apply.
  3. Do I need to be studying art in school or university to apply?
    No, there are no academic requirements. You don’t need to be enrolled in an art ATAR course or university program—just a passion for creating.
  4. I am homeschooled. Can I still apply?
    Absolutely! We welcome applications from all young artists, regardless of their educational background.
  5. I live in rural Western Australia. Can I apply, and how do I get my work to you if I’m accepted?
    Yes! We encourage applications from all regions, including rural Western Australia. If you're selected, we will cover the costs regardless of where you live and arrange the logistics to bring your artwork to the gallery.

Submission Guidelines

  1. What type of artwork can I submit?
    We accept a variety of visual art forms, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media. If you’re unsure whether your work qualifies, feel free to reach out.
  2. How many pieces can I submit?
    Each applicant may submit up to 2 pieces for consideration.
  3. Is there an application fee?
    No, applying to 'artbeat' is completely free.

Selection & Exhibition Details

  1. How will I know if I’m selected?
    Successful applicants will be notified via email by 17th May. Make sure to check your inbox (and spam folder) around this time.
  2. If I’m selected, do I have to attend the exhibition opening?
    No, attendance is not mandatory. While we'd love to have you there, we understand that everyone’s situation is different. The event will be well-documented with videos and photos, and if selected your work will still be showcased.
  3. I have ATAR exams this year and am worried about balancing my studies with this opportunity.
    We understand that your studies come first. Our program is designed to be flexible, and we’ll work around your schedule to ensure participation doesn’t add extra stress to your year.
  4. Will I receive feedback if I’m not selected?
    Due to the high volume of applications, we may not be able to provide individual feedback. However, we encourage you to apply again in the future!
     
  5. I live in rural WA, I won’t be able to attend any coaching meetings.

No problem, we can arrange them all via a video call at a time that is convenient for both you and the coach.
