My earliest memories of being interested in art (around 10 years) were attempting to copy drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci. His anatomical drawings, botanical sketches and studies of animals intrigued me.

Years later I can see that this Naturalistic approach is an enduring part of my own work. Careful observation from life wherever possible and a Naturalistic palette are prominent elements.

In these works, the use of Eucalyptus leaves gives the still life paintings an identity. They make a reference to the landscape and geography of the South West of W.A. where I live. Other subjects in the paintings also evoke a sense of place, like the local bird life.
