 Where Are We Now

Appreciation Of All                        The Eternal Atmosphere

Feature Artist: Michael Commerford

Michael Commerford is a self taught Australian artist who began his career sketching animals at the zoo, focusing on capturing the curious faces of exotic animals, including lions, zebras and monkeys.

Observing nature first hand Michael boldly portrays his subjects in a inquisitive yet familiar way and are, in a word, sentient. Michael’s compositions play with space and light achieving an unspoken feeling of being in the physical and spiritual presence of his subjects.

‘’I get this amazing feeling when I am free and it just starts to fall out of me onto the canvas. I am impetuous by nature so my Vayu style works because it's about knowing yourself and capturing the soul of your subject."

Not A Nibble
Home Sweet Home
Come Away With Me

Feature Artist: Lisa Cox

Lisa Cox’s vibrant works celebrate the joy found in everyday moments in life. By noticing the beauty in simple things, Lisa’s concepts spring from almost anywhere. These thoughts are then sketched and put on canvas and layered upon by various fabrics, papers and words. It is this use of mixed media that has enhanced and individualised Lisa’s figurative, naive style.

‘’There are no clear boundaries between my work and family life. My inspirations continue to evolve however I do have a few core influences that will always have an effect on me. My children, my passion for colour, fabrics and ever changing fashion and design are a common thread through the span of my painting career, this keeps evolving and building.’’

Little Love Apple Pendant

Feature Artist: Rita Winkler

Local jeweller Rita Winkler designs and creates individual pieces for men and women in sterling silver, 24ct gold, semi precious stones and pearls. Her contemporary designs are inspired by either architecture or nature where she transforms shape and design into beautiful one-off jewellery artworks. Conversely, her interest in the human psyche and journey through life inspires her to look inward and put into form that which has no form. Rita Winkler has won numerous awards and is represented in collections around Australia and world-wide.

Feature Artist: Ken Rasmussen

Ken Rasmussen has lived and travelled widely in Western Australia and spent time observing the landscapes in detail. He has been strongly influenced by the Pilbara, Kimberley and the South West region. Since graduating from Curtin University and beginning to paint professionally he has steadily gained a reputation that places him in the front rank of realist-impressionist painters working today. He is widely collected and his works are represented in many public and private collections both in Australia and overseas.

In addition to his impressionistic West Australian landscapes, Ken has produced a series of beach inspired contemporary works, featuring iconic South West seascapes.
