Larry Mitchell

Larry Mitchell is a self-taught artist who is now regarded as one of Australia’s foremost artists. His large-scale images appear so real that you can imagine stepping into the water that laps the edge of the canvas. He is intent on revealing the beauty of the natural landscape and recording those landscapes that are under threat from development and may be lost. Mitchell travels extensively and uses his trips to gather material for his painting. Papua New Guinea, the Abrolhos Islands and Antarctica feature in his work.

Larry is currently working on commissions for BHP’s Perth office and is available for private commissions. Please contact the gallery for further information.

Featured Artist

Featured Artist - John Borrack

Over the course of his sixty-year career, John Borrack has spent time contemplating the wide-open spaces of the Australian landscape. Working predominantly in watercolour and gouache he creates works that capture clarity of emotional expression. John’s works freeze fleeting moments as light plays on form and texture. They are vibrant, atmospheric and iconic images that speak of a supreme nature, often wild and untainted by the hand of man.

New Artist

Featured Artist - Katherine Lys

Glass artist, Katherine Lys is from Calgary, Canada, where she earned her BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design. She has been living in Perth where she worked at Glass Manifesto and continued to develop her art practice. She is most interested in the juxtaposition between materials, or colour, or form. Rather than working in stark contrast, she prefers to seek their subtle qualities, asking not what makes us different, but rather - what makes us the same?

New Artist

Feature Artist - Alex Wisniewski

Alex Wisniewski has been living and painting in the South-West for many years, captured by the grandeur and stark beauty of the Cape to Cape region. His work in this time has focused on the seascape, with an emphasis on composition, colour and light. Alex says “By assimilating and manipulating these patterns (in nature) as compositional elements my intention is to create work that’s complex in structure and rendering but simple in essence, a harmonious balance of tensions”.
