Peter Saxon was born in Perth in 1959, and educated at Wesley College and the University of Western Australia, where he studied medieval history, Latin and philosophy. During 1979 he travelled throughout the United States. Peter married in 1981 and then travelled overseas to Britain. After completing his Diploma Of Fine Arts in Australia, further travel followed in 1984 to Britain, Ireland and Western Europe.

The direction of his work has been particularly influenced by the painting, sculpture, literature and architecture of high Gothic Europe – 14th and 15th Century Italian and Flemish painting and the manuscript illumination of the Christian West, Byzantium and Persia.

Peter has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Western Australia and in 1985 was highly commended in the Mandorla Religious Art Prize.
