Barry was born in 1969 and spent his childhood and teenage years in Mt Helena, Western Australia. With a passion for timber, and, having finished high school, he went on to complete a trade as a timber machinist.

In his early twenties Barry embarked on a six year working holiday around Australia and this kick started him in his wood turning career.  He purchased a small wood lathe and generator and attached it to his caravan. Creating small bowls and urns from local timbers, Barry displayed his timber products at the local weekend markets.  This enabled him to continue his travels.

Upon returning to Western Australia, he custom designed and built a lathe to produce the timber urns for which he has become renowned. Working with local hardwood timbers Jarrah and Marri, Barry creates timeless and unique pieces designed to stand the test of time.

His urns are held in collections in Australia and internationally.
